Strategy for Upward Growth

HMC Polymers recently introduced an exciting new medium term corporate strategy to employees at all HMC locations. The project, entitled "Platinum 4" was initiated by HMC President Khun Chawalit Tippawanich based on his belief that to truly transition to an operation where all aspects of HMC operations are optimised for sustainability, efficiency and growth, a comprehensive strategy beyond a 1-2 year timeframe is a fundamental requirement.

The project name, Platinum 4 refers to high value and the number 4 reflects HMC Polymers' project goal of creating a fourth business growth S-curve in line with its 3 previous successful investment milestones with PP line 1 in 1983, PP line 2 in 1995 and PP line 3 with PDH in 2006.

In keeping with HMC's mission to deliver exceptional value to our customers and stakeholders, one of the Platinum 4 objectives is to create value through reaching the goal of 800 KTA PP production volume by the year 2020.

The HMC Polymers Board of Directors gave in-principle approval to the project on Jan 27, 2016 with the PP plant 3 revamp and debottleneck project and PDH debottleneck project as key components of the Platinum 4 investment plan requiring expenditure of over 3 billion baht.

As part of the Platinum 4 strategy launch and briefing, all employees were provided with jackets to commemorate the start of this exciting new chapter. The Platinum 4 logo used to identify the new direction includes the upward sweep of the well-known S-curve formation.

Through the Platinum 4 medium term strategy process, HMC has now created an integral project planning vehicle comprising all existing and future major projects and ancillary tasks.

Now, with a far-reaching and consolidated picture provided by Platinum 4, the company can allocate resources based on the corporate priorities laid out in the planning structure to optimise all aspects of our business model including sourcing and use of feedstocks, production synergies across all plants, and enhanced sales and marketing functions. All of these activities are monitored and affected by the overall corporate requirement to ensure our operations from top to bottom are driven by world best environmental and safety practice.
