HMC Polymers came together recently with joint venture associate, PTT Group for the PTT Group Upstream and Downstream Technology Conference and Exhibition 2014 which was held from the 8th-26th of September. The Conference, held at the PTT Headquarters in Bangkok, was highlighted by a series of seminars on September 8th and 9th presenting new commercialised product developments. The overall conference theme was "We believe in Science & Technology".

The conference included exhibits and seminars to provide new in-depth product information for an audience of customers, stakeholders and the industry press, numbering around 2,500 participants. One important segment of the event was the Popular Award which is made to the researcher from the PTT group of companies who receives the most votes from PTT and joint venture colleagues for the most valuable project contribution in 2014.

HMC supports the Popular Award (Valued 30,000 THB) and Khun Pornchai Pichitwutikorn (VP-Business Management and Supply Chain) was on hand to present the award to winner, Dr. Parkpoom Lorjai, a PTT researcher, for his project: Development of Polyolefin-based Purging Compound.

The winning project promoted the expansion of product value through the addition of special features and capabilities. Those capabilities included the ability to have faster changeovers and shorter machine downtime when the new product was used.
