This year, HMC Polymers marked its 30th Anniversary as a company. HMC Polymers was established in 1983 with ownership comprising leading International and Thai companies and including Thai investors. The company has a joint venture heritage with firm roots in Thailand and back to the invention of polypropylene.

After obtaining Thailand Board of Investment promotional privileges, HMC Polymers commissioned its first production line in October 1989 in the newly formed Map Ta Phut Industrial Complex. PTT became a shareholder of HMC Polymers in 2006.

Since the commencement of polypropylene production in 1989, the company has continued to expand and modernise its facilities. Today it has the most modern technology in Thailand and with an operating capacity of 750kt, is one of largest and most advanced facilities in South East Asia. HMC owes its success not only to its dedicated employees over that period, but also in large part to its loyal customers, most of whom are located in Thailand.

The mutual benefit received by HMC and our customers through close collaboration has been significant and has been a major factor in the HMC product development program ensuring new PP grades respond to customers’ market needs.

To celebrate the 30 year anniversary milestone, HMC held a party at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok Hotel to thank our customers for their friendship, loyalty and support. Attending the celebration were over 180 customers and 40 HMC employees.

At the event, guests were entertained by mini-concerts featuring 3 well-known singers, a chorus and a 24-piece orchestra. HMC President Khun Niels Nielsen delivered the welcoming address to customers and the closing speech where he invited all HMC Polymers’ VPs to join him on stage for a champagne toast of gratitude, and to salute to all of the HMC customers over the past 30 years; without whom, the company would not exist today.

Together with the show and on-stage speeches, which lasted two hours, there were also presentations at the venue showing the HMC company history, achievements, and awards, including many events conducted over the life of the company with our customers. These included overseas trips, sports events, charitable collaborations and other activities.

Finally, the evening was closed with an employee presentation expressing our warm and sincere thanks to HMC customers. The customer response was very positive and likewise, HMC was pleased to have the opportunity to communicate our thanks to customers directly for 30 years of achievement together.
