HMC Presents at Plastics Forum
HMC Polymers recently presented to The Plastic Forum in Bangkok. Due to the well-known HMC Purell PP grades manufactured for the medical market and specifically for medical devices, Khun Oraphin Teerana-amornwong, HMC Product Innovation & Technology Manager, was invited to be a guest speaker on the 11th July, 2015 at The Plastic Forum held at Bitech Bangna, Bangkok.
The event was focused on the creation of networks through cooperation, a key for success in the Thai medical devices industry. The presentation subject was the use of medical grade PP to produce high quality medical devices.
In order to create confidence for the consumers of medical devices, a reliable value chain needs to be established. Upstream manufacturing of PP is part of that value chain and Khun Oraphin explained how Purell PP grades for the medical market are made under specific manufacturing procedures, offering consistency of formulation, continuity of supply and are certified according to regulatory compliance standards. Those standards include US Pharmacopeia, European Pharmacopeia and Drug Master File listing supporting the use of the resins in medical and pharmaceutical applications.
US Pharmacopeia (USP)
US Pharmacopeia is an independent organization that established a set of standards to ensure the quality of medicines and other health care technologies.
European Pharmacopeia (EP)
Listing of quality standards with which all medicines sold in European member states must comply. EP describes basic requirements on raw materials and how they should be tested
Drug Master File (DMF)
Drug Master File (DMF) is a submission of information to the FDA to permit the FDA to review this information in support of the third party’s submission.
DMF usually covers the Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) of a component of a drug product e.g. drug substance, excipient, packaging material.
