HMC Polymers held its Annual Seminar on July 24th, 2019 and the event this year was entitled "The Next Journey of HMC Polymers."

With the recent press announcement that HMC will be constructing it's fourth Polypropylene plant at its Map Ta Phut site, the most advanced unit in the world using LyondellBasell’s Spherizone production technology, HMC will further develop it's highly differentiated range of products and indeed further push the boundaries of PP capabilities.

The seminar in the Surasak Ballroom at Eastin Grand Sathorn, was presented to around 100 converters and brand owners, mainly from Thailand.

(Former) HMC President, Khun Martyn Tickner welcomed attendees and commenced the seminar with a discussion on the current PP Market Outlook. Topics of interest included: the status of the SEA supply/demand balance; a review of the main producers in the region; net trade flows; possible effects arising from the Middle East, India and China; and other factors which may affect the current economic situation.

The pop-up product display formed an integral part of the second presentation, Pushing the Boundaries of PP by HMC's Business Innovation Manager, Dr. Andreas Neumann. He guided attendees through the examples as part of his presentation on the current state-of-the-art for PP and the exciting direction of HMC product development based on production technology such as the forthcoming HMC Spherizone plant planned for the Map Ta Phut site.

The seminar concluded with the special topic 2H/2019 Global and Thailand Economic Outlook by guest speaker Dr. Supavud Saicheua from Kiatnakin Phatra Financial Group.

The annual seminar was also the perfect forum for the official launch of the HMC Sustainability video and HMC Sustainability handbook providing insights into global environmental issues, current strategies and their effectiveness and an overall commentary on the best options going forward.
