R&D Program on Display

HMC Polymers was recently featured in the 9th PTT Technology Day seminar and exhibition held from September 17-21 at PTT headquarters in Bangkok. The annual event was presented this year with the theme “Licensee to Licensor” and participating PTT groups and affiliates included IRPC, PTTGC, Thai Oil, PTT RTI, BPE and HMC Polymers.

The five day event attracted a large number of customers, stakeholders and press who learned about recent group R&D activity and future strategy which has resulted in commercialized successes or new developments coming in the near future.

The Exhibition area was divided into zones: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. The Today zone included HMC innovations and the Tomorrow display also informed attendees of the 7 ground breaking technologies forecasted by PTT in Thailand over decades to come, and factored as part of long-term corporate strategy.

HMC presented examples of new capability PP grades for medical applications including Purell RP271M and Purell RP271G. HMC’s Purell medical grades are market compliant to all major regulatory requirements and sold specifically for the medical market, ensuring quality and consistency of formulation for a prescribed period.

Also, the benchmark PP HECO grade EP6004 was presented and gathered a considerable amount of interest. This grade is used successfully by customers for the highly competitive paint pail market, and is the only PP grade currently available passing the physical requirements needed for IML (In-mould labeled pails).

Khun Pornchai Pichitwutikorn, HMC Vice President – Business Management and Supply Chain, presented the annual event award for R&D excellence and innovation to Khun Phatthanon Prasitchoke, Ph.D., Senior Researcher from PTT Global Chemical for the research project named “Production of new essential PUFAs by microalgae”.

This annual award, sponsored every year by HMC, is given to the research project which receives the highest number of votes from seminar participants.
