PP Reborn by HMC Polymers partners with World Pickleball Championship to elevate sustainability in ASEAN competitions

The growing global popularity and enthusiasm for pickleball has led to a collaboration between PP Reborn, a polypropylene (PP) plastic waste management platform by HMC Polymers Co., Ltd., and the World Pickleball Championship (WPC), the official global license holder for organizing pickleball competitions. This partnership aims to drive pickleball as a sport that prioritizes sustainability while inspiring athletes and audiences worldwide.

On May 4, 2026, Ms. Thitiworada Nakarawong, Executive of WPC-Thailand, participated in a symbolic ceremony marking the beginning of PP Reborn’s initiative to manage used pickleball balls from competitions in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. These pickleball balls, made from PP plastic resin, will be reintroduced into the production cycle in accordance with circular economy principles. They will also be further developed into value-added products, benefiting underprivileged youth.

The World Pickleball Championship (WPC) was founded in Florida, USA, before hosting its first international tournament in Asia in 2022 in Phuket, Thailand. Its mission is to bring together world-class athletes and inspire players across the globe.

Pickleball is a hybrid sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. It is played using a paddle to hit a perforated plastic ball over a net on a court the size of a badminton court. This sport has been gaining continuous popularity due to its simplicity, easy-to-understand rules, and accessibility for people of all ages and genders. It can be played in both singles and doubles formats. Pickleball ball are made from PP plastic resin due to its desirable properties, including strength, durability, impact resistance, resistance to cracking, and lightweight characteristics
