HMC Polymers hosts the 2025 conference Announces strategic collaboration with shareholders to accelerate sustainable PP products Leveraging world-class technology to enhance quality of life and sustainability

Bangkok, 28 October 2025 – HMC Polymers Company Limited is organizing the HMC Polymers Conference 2025 under the theme : “PP Together: Preferred Partner for a Sustainable Future”, held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok. This year’s focus highlights strategic collaboration with shareholders—both national and global companies—to strengthen the entire supply chain for premium-grade polypropylene (PP) and sustainable PP products, in response to growing market demand.

Mr. Corso Uzielli, President of HMC Polymers, stated that the overall outlook for the petrochemical industry is steady during the first three quarters of 2025. However, there remain external factors that need close monitoring, such as global economic volatility, international tariff policies, geopolitical tensions, and increasing competition from new players in Asia. These dynamics have led HMC Polymers to continually adapt its business strategies, with a key focus on accelerating the production of sustainable PP products.

This strategic direction is supported by its shareholders: PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC), which supplies bio-based raw materials (Bio-circular propylene), and LyondellBasell, which contributes world-class production technology and market expansion expertise in sustainable PP.

During the event, Mr. Toasaporn Boonyapipat, President of GC, Chairman of the Board of HMC Polymers, and Mr. Andy Lai, executives of LyondellBasell, executive committee member of HMC Polymers and shareholder representative, joined the conference to officially announce this collaboration. The partnership spans across raw material supply, technology, and marketing efforts to ensure a secure and resilient supply chain that meets the increasing demand for sustainable PP both domestically and internationally as well as helps strengthen our position as a leader in sustainable PP product solutions in Asia.

The conference continues to serve its original purpose—to be a platform for knowledge exchange, stakeholder engagement, and transparent communication. Key highlights include:

  • Knowledge sharing activities: Featuring keynote speeches from national experts, sustainability workshops, and exhibitions from partner organizations.
  • Premium PP development updates: Showcasing over 60 grades of specialty and differentiated premium PP resins, with 60% of total sales volume exported internationally—products recognized for their unique properties and differentiation from competitors.
  • Shareholder collaboration announcement: Formalizing partnerships to secure the sustainable PP supply chain from raw material sourcing to production and delivery.
  • Sustainability progress reporting: Updates on the company's sustainability framework built on three pillars
    1. Circularity: Focus on the success of sustainable PP products from both fossil-based*, for instance, mono-material PP resin that can be more easily recycled and renewable** raw materials. Highlighting PP Reborn, Thailand's first PP waste management platform. In 2025, HMC Polymers partnered with Thailand Post to expand PP waste drop points to over 100 locations nationwide. As of October 2025, nearly 7,000 kg of PP waste has been collected—reducing landfill and environmental waste.
    2. Carbon Reduction:
      • Process improvements to reduce carbon emissions.
      • Implementation of carbon footprint labeling for all product grades.
      • Achieving carbon footprint certifications.
      • Launching a reforestation initiative in Nakhon Ratchasima in collaboration with the Royal Forest Department, aiming to increase carbon sequestration through green space development.
    3. Connectivity: Applying knowledge and PP products to uplift communities and the nation in areas such as education, environment, quality of life, and cultural heritage. HMC Polymers has supported these initiatives for decades. The 2025 conference is a key example of this connectivity—bridging stakeholders with knowledge for mutual, multidimensional benefits.

The HMC Polymers Conference 2025 has exceeded expectations in both onsite and online attendance. This reflects a growing interest and marks a significant milestone in Thailand's PP manufacturing and distribution sector.

Remark

* Conventional virgin PP: HMC Polymers has developed innovations to improve the sustainability of fossil-based PP, creating products that reduce plastic content without compromising strength, as well as PP products designed for easier recycling, such as mono-material PP which are able to replace multi-material packaging like foil.

** PP from sustainable feedstock: which includes 3 types of sustainable PP

  • Bio-circular PP: Made from used materials such as used cooking oil, this type reduces carbon emissions during production while maintaining the identical properties as virgin PP.
  • Advanced recycling PP: Made from various types of used plastics, this PP is processed through pyrolysis to create new PP resins with the same quality as virgin PP.
  • Mechanical recycling PP: Made from post-consumer recycled PP (PCR) or post-industrial recycled PP (PIR).

These sustainable PP products have received certifications such as ISCC PLUS from International Sustainability and Carbon Certification for bio-circular and advanced recycling PP, and GRS (Global Recycled Standard) for mechanical recycling PP.
