HMC Polymers is collaborating with the Federation of Thai Industries and other partners to exhibit the potential of PP plastic resin at A-PLAS 2024.

On September 19, 2024, Mr. Corso Uzielli, President of HMC Polymers Co., Ltd., assigned Mr. Pornchai Pichitwutikorn, Senior Vice President of Business Strategy, Innovation, and Commercial, to represent the company at the opening ceremony of the A-PLAS 2024 plastic industry trade show. The event was organized by the Plastic Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Plastics Industry Association. It was held under the theme "Integrating Plastic Value Chain for ECO-FUTURE" from September 19 to 21, 2024, at Hall 103, BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Center, from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM.

This year, HMC Polymers' booth, numbers D11 and D13, focused on showcasing premium-grade PP plastic pellets and Sustainable PP Products, which are categorized based on their key characteristics into three types:

  • Reduce: Bio-based PP plastic pellets produced from recycled raw materials, such as used vegetable oil, help reduce carbon emissions during production. The bio-based PP pellets are certified ISCC Plus by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. Downgauging PP pellets exhibit high strength and performance, allowing a reduction in the amount of plastic used in production while maintaining performance.
  • Recycle : Chemical Recycling PP refers to converting used plastic through a chemical process called Pyrolysis before it is used as raw material for producing PP pellets again. The chemically recycled PP pellets are also ISCC Plus certified. Mechanical Recycling PP includes recycled PP pellets made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) PP or PP plastics discarded or deemed unsuitable during industrial production (Post-Industrial Recycled, PIR). The mechanically recycled PP pellets are certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS)
  • Redesign & Replace: Mono-material PP pellets are designed to replace film layers made from other materials, used as sealing or aluminum foil coating layers, resulting in mono-material plastic film packaging that is easier to recycle since there is no contamination from different types of raw materials.

Additionally, HMC Polymers organized seminars to provide knowledge about the development of innovative PP resin from the Innovation and Technical support department under the topics:

  1. Innovation Frontiers in Specialty Polypropylene: New Development and Trend in Flexible and Rigid Packaging by Ms. Jeerada Mahutthon, Extrusion Segment Manager.
  2. Unveiling Polypropylene Resin for Tomorrow's Industrial and Healthcare Applications by Ms. Chonnikarn Deeprasertkul, Senior Technology Engineer, and Mr. Jatupol Surakarnkha, Technology Engineer.

The event concluded with highlights from HMC Polymers' support for entrepreneurs participating in the "5th Thailand Plastics Awards 2024," organized by the Plastic Industry Group, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Plastic Industry Association, and the Pollution Control Department, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Under the concept “Embracing the Loop: Paving the Way for Plastic Circularity,” the event aimed to enhance awareness about sustainable plastic management, aligning with the company’s sustainability policy. Notably, three awards were won for outstanding entries:

Household Products

  • Gold Award: Smooth Collection, a multifunctional home décor line by QUALY.
  • Silver Award: Folding basket made from recycled PP plastic by AGORA Design.

Construction Products

  • Gold Award: Strata Wall Panel, a decorative wall panel made from recycled plastic by QUALY.

This reinforces that recycled PP plastic can effectively create new products, adding value to post-consumed PP plastic in line with circular economy principles.

HMC Polymers aims to be a part of driving and supporting the plastic industry in all aspects based on sustainability.
