HMC Polymers signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under "Upcycling for Life" project in collaboration with the Pollution Control Department (PCD)

On December 18, 2023, Mr. Pinsak Suraswadi, Director General of the Pollution Control Department (PCD), and Mr. Thalearngsak Petchsuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE), representing the Director of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR), signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which focuses on collaborative efforts to support plastic upcycling for social and environmental activities under the "Upcycling for Life" project. The project involves the Creative Center for Eco-design, Faculty of Architecture, Kasetsart University, and private companies such as HMC Polymers Company Limited and J.C.J. Company Limited (Double Lock).

Mr. Corso Uzielli, President of HMC Polymers, stated that as the first and largest producer and distributor of polypropylene (PP) resin in Thailand, HMC Polymers is committed to sustainable practices and social responsibility. Now the company focuses on producing sustainable products, such as recycled PP resin, to reintegrate PP plastic waste into the circular economy. By incorporating innovation and technology, HMC Polymers ensures the production of high-quality recycled PP resin that performs efficiently in various applications. As part of their commitment, the company has collaborated with partners to support the design, prototyping, and production of bed pans. This collaborative effort spans from the initial design phase to the completion of the project, underlining the importance of cooperation in promoting PP plastic recycling for social and environmental benefits. The project is known as "Upcycling for Life."

Furthermore, this initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya Foundation and it is one of the activities under the draft master plan for the conservation of coral reefs and marine life in the Thai seas for a period of 5 years (2023-2027). In terms of marine waste management, various relevant organizations will be involved in implementing measures as part of the enduring commitment to the sustainable conservation of coral reefs and marine life in the Thai seas.
