Goal Green for World Forest Day

World Forest Day was held on March 21, 2022 and HMC Polymers participated in the same week with a tree planting program at the Protection Strip Reserve of the PDH plant in Rayong.

Our leadership and employees participated in a day of tree planting with the concept of “Goal Green Together” to encourage the importance of retaining and expanding forests to help absorb carbon dioxide and mitigate the problems already being experienced from climate change.

During this outdoor activity, all HMC Polymers' colleagues followed COVID prevention and control measures including testing prior to the team participation.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 21 the International Day of Forests in 2012 to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests.

Countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns.

Forests cover one-third of the Earth’s landmass, performing vital functions around the world. Around 1.6 billion people – including more than 2,000 indigenous cultures – depend on forests for their livelihoods, medicines, fuel, food and shelter.

World Forest Day theme for 2022 is “Forests and sustainable production and consumption”. The theme for each World Forest Day is chosen by the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF).

Forests are the most biologically diverse ecosystems on land, home to more than 80% of the terrestrial species of animals, plants and insects. Yet, despite all of these priceless ecological, economic, social and health benefits, global deforestation continues at an alarming rate.
