ASEAN Plastics Awards

For the HMC Connect 2Q edition, we interviewed Khun Thongchai Oranrigsupak, Chairman of the 1st ASEAN Plastics Awards program which was initiated to recognise innovation and excellence by the ASEAN Plastics Industry.

The ASEAN Plastics Awards are being arranged and sponsored by AFPI (ASEAN Federation of Plastic Industries) which was founded in 1981 by integrating the national Plastics Industrial Associations amongst ASEAN countries.

During the 15th Term AFPI Council (2012-2014) meeting held on April 3rd, 2013 in Thailand, AFPI acknowledged the positive impact to our industry from foreign trade encouraging the plastics market to become more competitive, especially in commodity products.

Interview
In conversation with HMC regarding the new awards, Khun Thongchai said: "To remain competitive many manufacturers focus on finding ways to reduce their cost base while sometimes less consideration is directed towards increasing sales through product quality and unique design. The awards are intended to further elevate manufacturing standards and design for plastic products produced in the region."

"HMC Polymers has long standing links to many of the organisations which form the AFPI and we are pleased to say is firmly behind this initiative. With the physical properties of PP constantly being redefined in areas such as toughness, impact resistance, clarity and melt-flow/thin-walling, a focus on product differentiation through quality and innovative design in our industry is timely."

"The winners will be announced and awarded at the “Plastic Night 2014” Gala Dinner which will be held on Wednesday 22nd October, 2014 at the Thai Army Club, Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, Bangkok, Thailand."
