HMC Connect spoke to Khun Supachoke about his period at HMC:

What is your best memory for your period at HMC?

I have been particularly impressed by the cohesive team spirit of all employees at HMC and their tenacity for achievement and operational excellence. This has been an essential part of the culture that management has been keen to promote and is part of what makes HMC a satisfying and safe place for employees to work. Even under unfavourable circumstances, we have managed to negotiate difficulties in a methodical and strategic way.

In late 2014, despite the crude oil price crisis and struggling economy, we managed to operate as a well-functioning team to maintain and finally achieve our goals.

What have been the major achievements over your time at HMC?

There have been many achievements to discuss based on the efforts of our employees at all levels. Some key examples include:

  • 3,000,000 man-hours without recordable injuries – which is quite remarkable for any company in our industry worldwide.
  • The Debottlenecking of PP plant line 3 to achieve 322 KT/year.
  • In 2014 we delivered our highest record production/sales volume.

What is the state of the business in Thailand and SEA and how is HMC placed to face future challenges?

I believe that HMC is poised to continue its expanded growth pattern despite fierce competition, higher demands from our valued customers who, like us have increased competition, and a constantly changing market environment in SEA and around the world.

How do you envisage HMC in the next 20 years?

I do hope to be part of HMC’s 50 Anniversary celebration because I believe HMC by then will grow even stronger and is set to become one of the most innovative companies in the region – certainly, Asia’s No. ONE in PP.

What will you miss most?

I always enjoy being with people especially those who are competent at what they do. HMC employees are certainly competent, capable and accountable with a high level of integrity. It has been very satisfying to be part of such a team and to see achievement through close collaboration with our customers. I have been pleased and proud to work with employees, customers and stakeholders to grow and succeed together.
