Conference at Asia Plastics Forum
As part of the 26th Asia Plastics Forum & 16th Term APFI Conference, HMC Polymers joined with other polymer producers in Thailand to co-sponsor the 16th Term APFI Conference (2014-2016). HMC was tasked by the event committee to organize this 2-day conference at the Marriott Bangkok.
The event welcomed Chief Delegates and commenced its program on the afternoon of 14th Sept. at the Marriott in Sukhumvit where the AFPI Caucus Meeting, and APFI Council Meeting were held.
On the 15th Sept. the 26th Asia Plastics Forum was attended by approximately 200 people. More than 80 of those attendees joined the conference from countries throughout the ASEAN economic community. Chief forum delegates attended from 11 country members including China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand. They were welcomed by Mr. Chen Namchaisiri, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries.
Presentations were made by several distinguished guest speakers in the field of plastics both from manufacturing to end user companies including DOW and Procter & Gamble. Also, the program included technical speakers from organizations such as Kasetsart University, American Chemistry Council and PlastIndia Foundation.
On the 16th Sept. the 16th Term AFPI Conference was attended by over 150 guests. There were two interesting panel discussions: “Intra-ASEAN Investment Opportunity in the Plastics Industry”, and “Sharing of Vision and Experience of Investment in ASEAN."
In the afternoon, there was also a handing-over ceremony from the outgoing AFPI Chairman Chairman Mr. Ho Duc Lam of Vietnam, to the new incoming Chairman, Mr. Didik Susilo of Indonesia.
Also, the winning products from the ASEAN Plastic Award were displayed at the foyer in front of the conference rooms. Dr. Andreas Neumann, HMC’s Senior Department Manager, Business Innovation & Technology, had the honour of being a member of the judging team.
The Chief Delegates and guests were transferred to the popular Plastic Night Party, a yearly event organized by the Plastic Group under the Federation of Thai Industries, at the Thai Army Club on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.
As always, the annual Asia Plastics Forum offered a broad spectrum of industry news and information to attendees and provided an opportunity for leaders across the industry to meet and exchange ideas. We look forward to the next conference in 2017.
