HMC Assists Habitat for Humanity

In a short ceremony recently at HMC Head Office in Bangkok, HMC President, Mr. Niels Nielsen presented a donation of 300,000 THB on behalf of the company to Mr. Chamnan Wangtan, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Thailand.

The stated vision for Habitat for Humanity Thailand is “A country where everyone has a decent place to live.”

This is an objective that resonates with HMC employees and management and over the seven year period of HMC's association with HFH Thailand, HMC staff have embraced this vision and given generously of their time and expertise to assist the foundation's humanitarian objectives. To date, the company has donated 2.1 M THB and considerable man-hours to assist the placement of fifteen homeless families over the period in new homes.

Established in 1998, Habitat for Humanity Thailand has helped to improve the quality of many people’s lives through building new homes, renovating existing structures and creating positive outcomes for communities. HFH Thailand works with like-minded partners, focusing on holistic development and sustainable change to achieve a positive and lasting community impact.

By providing modern level, habitable housing, HFH Thailand boosts economic and educational opportunities for families, with associated improvements in their overall health and social integration.

HMC has assisted the HFH Thailand foundation with donations and manpower over this period to help deliver the construction of housing for families who would not otherwise have been able to afford their own homes. The latest HMC hands-on activity took place on 25-26 August, 2012 in a house construction at Map Ta Phut, Rayong province.
