HMC Polymers partners with BIG to deploy low‑carbon nitrogen express service Driving long‑term collaboration for sustainability across the supply chain

BIG, Thailand’s leader in low‑carbon industrial gas innovation, has entered into a long‑term collaboration with HMC Polymers Co., Ltd., Thailand’s first and largest producer and distributor of premium‑grade polypropylene (PP) resin in Southeast Asia. The partnership focuses on the deployment of Low‑Carbon Nitrogen Express Service to support urgent nitrogen requirements throughout HMC Polymers’ production processes. Under the agreement, BIG has been appointed as the sole provider of Express Service for HMC Polymers for a period exceeding 10 years.

As part of this collaboration, BIG will supply Low-Carbon Nitrogen Express Service to support HMC Polymers during start-up, shutdown, and maintenance operations that require urgent or high-pressure nitrogen supply. BIG has invested in enhancing the capabilities of its Nitrogen Express Service system, both in terms of flow rate and pressure, enabling it to support more complex operational requirements.

These enhancements have resulted in a reduction of operational time by up to three times compared to conventional methods. This improvement strengthens production continuity, reduces downtime, enhances production quality stability, and, importantly, significantly lowers greenhouse gas emissions from core petrochemical processes. The collaboration also supports carbon reduction across HMC Polymers’ entire production value chain.

Ms. Orla Charoenlarp, Chief Finance Officer of BIG, stated:

“This long‑term collaboration with HMC Polymers reflects BIG’s readiness to elevate low‑carbon industrial gas services to meet the needs of manufacturing sectors that demand speed and high operational stability. The Low-Carbon Nitrogen Express Service effectively reduces carbon emissions during start-up and shutdown processes, while cutting operational time by up to three times. This initiative aligns with BIG’s ‘Generating a Cleaner Future’ strategy, which aims to drive Thailand’s industrial sector toward long‑term sustainability.”

Mr. Vasun Subanake, Senior Vice President – Manufacturing and Operational Excellence at HMC Polymers, added:

“HMC Polymers has a clear sustainability framework, with carbon reduction as one of its three key strategic pillars, in preparation for achieving a 20% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions by 2030. This long‑term collaboration with BIG on the Low‑Carbon Nitrogen Express Service will help shorten operational time, improve production efficiency, and support the company’s long‑term sustainability objectives.”
