HMC Polymers showcased Sustainable PP Solutions alongside key partners Basell Asia Pacific Ltd. and IWATANI Corporation at the esteemed packaging exhibition in Asia, TOKYO PACK 2024.
HMC Polymers Co., Ltd., led by President Corso Uzielli and supported by the sales, marketing, and innovation teams, showcased their Sustainable PP Products in collaboration with partners Basell Asia Pacific Ltd. and IWATANI Corporation. at the prestigious packaging exhibition, TOKYO PACK 2024. This event took place from October 23 to 25, 2024, at the Tokyo Big Sight National Convention Center in Tokyo, Japan.
With a vision of becoming the preferred partner for Sustainable PP Solutions, HMC Polymers is dedicated to developing a range of sustainable PP plastic pellets for manufacturers and consumers. These products are classified into two categories based on the source of raw materials:
1. Conventional Virgin PP: which is produced from petroleum, also known as fossil-based raw materials. While it represents the traditional source for PP production, it has been enhanced for greater efficiency. Innovations include the design of new PP plastics that promote recycling, such as mono-material PP, which supports long-term sustainability.
2. PP Plastics from Renewable Resources: This category includes three main types:
- Bio-Circular PP: These bio-based PP plastics are produced from used oils, helping to reduce carbon emissions during production while maintaining properties identical to virgin PP.
- Advanced Recycling PP: This type uses recycled plastics that undergo pyrolysis to be converted into feedstock for new PP production, offering properties comparable to virgin PP.
- Mechanical Recycling PP: This consists of mechanically recycled PP that uses used PP plastic as raw material, sourced from either consumer waste (PCR) or industrial off-spec products (PIR).
The sustainable PP plastic products in this range are certified to international standards, including ISCC PLUS for Bio-Circular PP and Advanced Recycling PP, as well as GRS for Mechanical Recycling PP, ensuring both quality and sustainability.
TOKYO PACK 2024 is an international exhibition for the packaging and related industries, attracting over 220,000 attendees annually and featuring 725 leading companies from across Asia showcasing their products. This presents a significant opportunity for HMC Polymers to highlight their innovations on a global scale.
