HMC Distributors and Agents Seminar

HMC Polymers was pleased to recently welcome many of its Distributors and Agents to a seminar discussing new product additions to the HMC PP product portfolio. The seminar was held on June 6th at Eastin Grand Hotel, Sathorn in Bangkok and there were 97 participants, including HMC staff.

HMC Polymers sells PP products to our customers via several distribution channels. We of course sell directly through our own sales and marketing staff and our customer offering can also include technical advice and other ancillary services.

In this way we collaborate directly with customers and learn about their challenges first hand as we tailor products to actual market demands.

Also, a small number of our customers are served via our trusted distributor and agent partner companies which form a network across Thailand and South-East Asia allowing businesses to source the latest technology PP grades irrespective of their size, purchase volume or geographical location.

Periodically, HMC conducts Product and Technical Update Seminars to acquaint distribution partners of the latest PP grades. Some of the grades discussed were:

  • RC5004 - Low melt flow polypropylene random copolymer resin with superior clarity
  • EP229R - Polypropylene copolymer for extrusion coating and lamination
  • EP6036 - Polypropylene copolymer for coating for BOPP, CPP, paper, woven sacks and jumbo bags
  • RC6034 - Polypropylene terpolymer for skin layer of co-extruded CPP and BOPP films
  • RC6049 - Polypropylene terpolymer for skin layer of co-extruded CPP and BOPP films
  • HP6021 - High stiffness/clarity polypropylene for sheet extrusion and thermoforming
  • EP6004 - Very high impact polypropylene for pails, crates, tech. compounding and appliances
  • RP346R - Polypropylene random copolymer for household containers, thin wall food packaging, ISBM bottles, furniture

The attendees were greeted by opening comments from HMC President, Khun Supachoke Liamkaeo, who gave a warm welcome to all attendees. He briefly discussed our business environment and strong commitment to continuous product development. New product innovation has been very much at the heart of HMC's steady growth over that period and our Distribution network has been indispensable in allowing HMC to reach potential customers large and small over our region.

Similar to our recent seminar for customers, HMC provided an informational overview of the PP outlook, supported from IHS. Dr. Andreas Goeldel, HMC's Business Innovation and PP Solutions Manager then presented the topic “Innovation and Sustainability” and the HMC Technology Engineering team presented the technical part of the seminar which included the following agenda items:

  • Coating product update
  • Terpolymer product update
  • Thermoforming product update
  • Paint pails product update
  • Housewares product update

Dr. Goeldel also focused on the importance of plastic materials which assist the reduction of global warming due to low energy usage in the production process and its inherent light weight helping to reduce the costs of transportation. HMC will continue to develop future PP grades that further expand the benefits for products aiding sustainable practices.
