HMC Offers New Bulk Logistics

As a leader in SE Asia for the manufacture and bulk distribution of PP, HMC is now the first to offer customers in Thailand product delivery using 30ft long bulk containers.

With the concept pioneered in Europe, HMC was one of the first PP suppliers in Asia to offer customers in 2008 the opportunity to receive PP orders distributed in bulk containers.

While the new distribution concept remains the same as the normal 20ft container options, customers can now expect to benefit from a payload increase of over 30% using this new container option which will add value to their domestic supply chains. The fully integrated HMC ‘silo to silo’ transport service operates using three essential stages:

Firstly, the introduction of designed-for-purpose 30ft long (9.14m) top-loading containers to facilitate loading in bulk at the HMC plants in Rayong province.

Secondly, a ‘load and hold’ concept is now available; meaning that the containers loaded with PP are placed into storage at the container terminal until HMC’s customers require delivery.

Finally, HMC’s logistics vendor provides for pneumatic discharge of the PP to the client’s receiving silos via specialist self-discharging trailers fitted with hydraulically-operated rams for tipping, plus a compressor and rotary valve for discharge.

The enhanced concept has proved to be successful with a number of clear customer benefits:

  • Reduced risk of contamination, eliminating double handling of product and thereby improving product quality
  • Direct delivery into the silo offers a commercial advantage due to the elimination of decanting, bag splitting, and interim storage
  • Safe and environmentally-friendly transport medium with a lower per kilo transport related carbon component lowering the overall footprint
  • Added options and new flexibility for their delivery requirements

Whether customers receive product deliveries in bags, or one of the various bulk container options - all the way up to the 30ft container, HMC offers a full range of alternatives which can be implemented for customers as their business expands in Thailand, SE Asia, or worldwide.
