Green Star Environment Award
HMC Polymers recently received a Green Star Award from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) for its maintenance of high standards for environmental performance in 2011. HMC has been proud to receive the award each year since 2009. Mr. Jakkarat Lertopas (left), Deputy Governor of the IEAT Industrial Port, presented the award for the third year in a row to HMC Polymers’ HSEQ Manager, Mr. Chatri Phlappla (right) at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate office, Rayong.
The IEAT Environmental Governance (Green Star) Awards are made annually to companies who pass the Authorities exacting environmental standards and governance principles. The award is in recognition of the Company’s environmental stewardship and reporting transparency in all aspects of operations in year 2011.
The IEAT environmental committee, which supervises programs to reduce emissions and waste from plants in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, inspected the HMC plant locations, together with community representatives and also local and government agencies, to assess the company in all aspects of environmental and HSE Management.
HMC Polymers’ performance was judged to be “Excellent”, earning the company the Green Star Award. Each year, there are a limited number of plants recognised with the IEAT Green Star award.

Through the environmental management programs in place, HMC employees at all levels are individually accountable for actions and results, and HSE management is at the heart of all operations. The Environment Management System (EMS) at HMC has been designed to manage environmental programs in a systematic way to establish and assess the effectiveness of procedures, and to set an environmental policy with clear and measurable objectives.
