HMC Presents at BFS IOA

Khun Oraphin Teeranaamornwong, HMC Polymers' Department Manager, Product Innovation & Technology was one of the speakers for the recent BFS International Operators Association Asia/Pacific meeting on December 2-4, 2019 at Hotel Anantara Riverside in Bangkok.

The Pharmaceutical Blow-Fill-Seal International Operators Association (BFS IOA) is an international industry association for pharmaceutical and associated companies, which have a direct or indirect involvement with Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) manufacturing. BFS IOA is a non-profit organization, and is financed by subscription of more than 60 member companies worldwide and by sponsorships from the industry.

Khun Oraphin's presentation was entitled "Polypropylene: Advancing Quality Healthcare."
The key segments of the presentation were:

  • Introduction to HMC Polymers.
  • Explanation of the HMC Polymers' Purell Medical Protocol.
  • Sharing a successful material case study of a soft medical grade in collaboration with HMC customer, machine maker, Brevetti Angela for the trial of the "Soft IV Bottle" made using the Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) process.
     


BFS usually conducts 3 meetings per year in each region (America, Europe and Asia) for their medical device and related supply chain members.

The BFS IOA meeting was attended by medical device manufacturing companies who are also HMC’s customers namely Pharmasant Labortories, Otsuka Pharmaceutical Group (Japan/Indonesia/Vietnam/India), Widatra, and Thai Nakorn Patana. Apart from key resin suppliers like LyondellBasell and HMC Polymers, there were Machine manufacturers attending such as Rommelag, Brevetti Angela, Nikka Densok and Bosch Pharmatec.

HMC's Purell PP grades for the medical market are made under specific manufacturing procedures and offer consistency of formulation, continuity of supply, and are certified according to regulatory standards such as US Pharmacopeia, European Pharmacopeia and Drug Master File listing supporting the use of the resins in medical and pharmaceutical applications.
