HMC at Chinaplas 2012

HMC Polymers was in attendance at the recent Chinaplas 2012 (April 18th to 23rd), held at the New International Expo Centre in Shanghai. HMC Sales and Technical staff operated at the booth locations of joint venture partners – PTT and LyondellBasell.

At the PTT booth, HMC was represented alongside affiliates, PTT GC, PTTPM, PTTPL, IRPC and PTT Lubricants and over 4,000 people visited that stand.

In addition, HMC was also part of LyondellBasell’s booth. Display content describing HMC PP leadership in Southeast Asia and finished products from our key China market applications such as PP film, consumer goods, non woven products and rigid packaging were shown at both exhibit locations.

As part of our two channel, joint venture marketing agreement, HMC was in attendance at both locations to promote the benefits of our latest technology PP portfolio.

Focused HMC marketing segments for the LyondellBasell marketing channel included: housewares, thermoforming, thin wall injection moulding, medical, caps and closures and cast film. HMC products for markets including raffia, raffia coating, non woven fibres and water quenched blown film (IPP) are sold as part of PTT channel agreement.

China is a growth market location for our company and the HMC PP product portfolio has been steadily building a reputation for quality and value in the region.

The products receiving peak levels of interest at Chinaplas included RP348N or the new grade RP6016 for consumer and packaging applications; HP500D and HA843K for thermoforming; and EP6006 as well as EP6004 which were featured recently as new benchmark resins for automotive batteries and pail applications respectively.

Chinaplas, which rotates annually between Shanghai and Guangzhou in China’s southeast region, has tripled its amount of exhibition space to 210,000 square meters from 77,000 square meters since 2005 and has become the world’s second biggest plastics and rubber fair behind the triennial K Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.

This year’s Chinaplas attracted 109,858 attendees from 140 countries. Of these, more than 28,000, or just over 25 percent, came from outside China. The 2,700 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions, including more than 500 first-time exhibitors, filled all 17 halls at the New International Expo Centre.

We thank all of the customers and prospects who visited HMC Polymers at the PTT and LyondellBasell Chinaplas booth locations.
