The 3rd Thailand Plastics Awards 2017 was held on November 14 at Siam Discovery in Bangkok. The event was organized by The Federation of Thai Industries and a group of co-sponsors including HMC Polymers.

In addition to its co-sponsoring role, HMC also took the opportunity to provide a product display of samples to demonstrate the environmental benefits of PP in the production process and end-use as part of our corporate objective toward the goal of sustainable development.

The primary objectives of the Thailand Plastics Awards are to raise the standard of plastic manufacturing in Thailand, encourage the value-added benefits of well designed plastic products, and to promote product innovation under the theme "Better is Your Life"

This event invited both the general public and university students to join in a plastic design contest focusing on sustainability. For the public sector the plastic design contest categories were Housewares, Food Packaging / Disposable Products, Non-Food Packaging, Personal Care / Medical & Healthcare Products and Sustainable Products. The contest category for students was Innovation for Sustainability.

In addition, all winners will be able to submit their projects to ASEAN Plastics Awards 2018, and enter the WorldStar Awards organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO).

Mr. Chookiat Kosintrakarn, HMC Polymers' VP Sales & Innovation represented the award sponsors to the Plastics Award attendees.

Polypropylene is one of the most used and versatile plastics polymers for a broad range of product categories including all of those mentioned in the award briefing. HMC and co-sponsors look forward to seeing the innovative new ideas for products that enhance people's lives and also provide benefits for a more sustainable future. HMC is vitally interested in the goal of sustainability through the continuous innovation of its PP portfolio and operations to deliver benefits such as reduced material usage, extended product life, reuse capabilities, recycling facilities for PP products where possible and energy recovery.
