Mr. Niels Nielsen, President of HMC Polymers Co., Ltd., together with Management team and Shareholders including Onshore & Offshore Lenders were presented the award of the Asia-Pacific Petrochemical Project Finance Deals for the Year 2007 by Project Finance Magazine on 27th March 2008 in Hong Kong. HMC Polymers’ major shareholders include PTT Plc., LyondellBasell, and a group of leading Thai companies. It started the first polypropylene operation in 1989. With an existing capacity of 450,000 tons per annum, HMC Polymers is expanding its facilities to incorporate two new production plants which were financed from Thai banks; Krung Thai Bank PCL, Siam Commercial Bank PCL, Bangkok Bank PCL, and Government Savings Bank and other 5 international banks including The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) PCL., KBC Bank N.V., Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), and Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank. When the two new production plants are both operational in 2009, HMC Polymers will become the largest polypropylene producer in Thailand and South East Asia with a total aggregate polypropylene production capacity of 750,000 tons per annum.
